Random Access Memories
The fourth studio album by the French electronic music duo Daft Punk is a musical marvel. It pays tribute to the American music of the late ’70s and early ’80s.
Daft Punk enlisted musicians to perform live instrumentation and limited the use of electronic instruments. The album title has been described as expressing their interest in the past; citing the random access memory technology and the experience of man. “We were drawing a parallel between the brain and the hard drive; the random way in which memories were stored.” They felt that the content made by modern artists is of low quality.
RAM was a critical and commercial success topping the US Billboard 100 and topping the charts of many other countries. It won big in the 56th Grammy Awards winning Album of the year. Its lead single “Get Lucky” getting the nod for Record of the Year.
